In 480 BC, the fleet of the Persian King Xerxes was damaged on the rocks off Skiathos while he was on his way to fight King Leonidas of Sparta and his 300 soldiers; Leonidas and his men later beat the Persians at Thermopylae. Over a thousand years later, in 1807, the first Greek flag was created and hung on the island’s Evangelistria monastery. Subsequently, many leaders of the Greek Independence war were sworn in at that very spot.

Skiathos Airport is located 2,5 km from our base.
Ferry: Ferries and hydrofoils are arriving from Agios Konstantinos, Volos or
Thessaloniki at the port, 100m from our base.
Taxi: You can find easily taxis at Skiathos Airport. The drive costs approximately € 10.
Local Bus: The bus covers a distance of 14 km. It starts from the harbour and its final destination is Koukounaries.

The law in Greece is that the captain must posses a valid sailing license the co-skipper, if no sailing license is available must fill out a declartion stating they have knowledge to sail. (Please see attached declaration). VHF license is not required to charter a yacht in Greece
